Your Realtor for Life
Doran Farnum III takes the long view of working with clients. “I learned from buying my own properties,” he says. “The transaction would end, and I’d never hear from the realtors I used again. That’s not how I wish to operate. I want to be your realtor for life.”
This philosophy doesn’t simply apply to Doran’s personal life, as he says he keeps close with family and friends, many friends he’s had for the last 20 years or more. “We travel together, we try to meet up every Friday, we support what each other is doing. I’m here when you need me.”
After a diverse career that’s seen Doran work in advertising sales, do a 4-year stint teaching English in Hong Kong, sell insurance, and work in the service industry, he feels that real estate is the culmination of his career and serves as the ideal fit for his customer-first mindset. What’s interesting is that Doran has always loved the real estate industry – he started college as an architectural engineering major, but switched when he realized the engineering side didn’t speak to his true passion of helping people – and he would attend open houses just for fun despite having no professional stake in them.
Doran started his real estate career in one of the big box real estate firms in town, but the vibe wasn’t to his liking. After a serendipitous meeting with Peak Properties leadership at a Chamber of Commerce breakfast, Doran decided to join the Peak Properties Group and has settled in comfortably. “I like that it’s a smaller agency. They’ve got an awesome track record over the last 5-7 years, and everyone at the agency is willing to help. It just feels better working there than other firms.”
When Doran isn’t helping his clients, you can usually find him out hiking in Colorado’s scenic mountainscapes, hitting the dog park with his two rescue Weimaraners Riley and Bailey, or cooking up something delicious at home. When asked if he has a specialty, he says, “No, I just like trying different things. I cooked a big brunch for my husband’s birthday where I made homemade biscuits and homemade Belgian waffles. I’ve also done Spanish, Italian, and homemade Thai food after I took a cooking class in Thailand.”
What’s clear when talking to Doran his ability to connect. Of course, when you’ve had the wonderful diversity of experience, travel, and professional background he has, it’s not hard to understand why he’s so successful.
