Brewing, Boozing, Buzzing
While you may or may not self-identify as a beer connoisseur, the Great American Beer Festival is a great place for amateur and professional brewski-lovers alike. With talent represented from hundreds of breweries across the United States—including more than thirty favorites from the Denver area—their will be no shortage of the sweet golden nectar and good company.
Q: Why would I want to go to a festival when I could just stay at home and kick back with a cold one after a long week?
A: Because there’s nothing like spending an entire weekend immersed in the world of competitive beer snobbery (and getting to try a bajillion different beers in the process).
Q: When does this so-called “Great American Beer Festival” take place?
A: The Great American Beer Festival—which could, theoretically, also be called something like “Cooler-Con” or “The Stout Summit”—takes place every September at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center.
Q: Is this going to cost me an arm and a leg?
A: Yes—if your arm and leg are worth $80, give or take.
Q: Do I have to be 21 to attend this awesome event?
A: What do you think?
Q: How much beer will this $80 ticket get me?
A: As many 1-ounce samples as your heart desires. (And with so many breweries attending, there are over 3,500 different beers available.) So sample away—and please, take advantage of the event’s designated driver system.
Q: This sounds too good to be true. Are you sure you’re not over-dramatizing the Great American Beer Festival?
A: This festival holds the Guinness World Record® for most beers on tap. You will (literally) be able to say, “I have never seen so many different beers in all my life.”
